Temple Renovation

We are pleased to bring to the notice of the general public that we are engaged in a very pious and historic work of the renovation of age old Paniyadi temple which has immense historic and spiritual significance.

Brief Background of the temple:

The temple town of Udupi is the most sacred of all pilgrimage centers in the west coast of South India. This happens to be the place of Sri Ananthasana, Who is none other than Parashurama, worshiped and consecrated at the time King Rambhoja. Hence the town of Udupi is known as Rajatapeethapuram in the tradition.

Another equally important temple is the Chandra Mouleshwara. Lord of the temple is Maharudra who redeemed from Chandra from the curse of Dakshaprajapathi. This town came to be called Udupi. Due to the fame of Chandra Mouleshwara of this temple. Later in the twelfth century the town was blessed with the concentration of lord Krishna by the greatest ever saint Shri Madhwacharya and the town gained world fame in the modern world

&nbsp It has come to the notice of the devout public that there is Annnta Padmanabha idol, as old as old as Shri Ananteshwara in the village of Paniyadi. It is established by reliable sources that this temple was concecreated by Parusharama to fulfil the wish of Monarchs. The story goes that the Lord’s idol which was lost in the flux of time, was discovered by various pious Brhama Named as Madhwa Kunjithaya near the water lifting pulley. The word ‘Pani’ in the name of the village Paniyadi stands for the water pulley. The temple finds in work “Bava Prakashika” of Shri Narayana Panditarcharaya, who is contemporary to Madhwacharya.

The Ancient sacred temple traditionally belongs to shri Puttige Matha and presently the temple is in dilapidated condition. The present pontiff His Holiness Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji has taken Sankalpa to renovate the temple and restore the past glory befitting its stature and significance. His decision follows the divine counseling of Asta Mangala Prasna, which stated that Shri Madhwacharya himself had visited the temple and prayed Shri Ananta Padmanabha here. Hence forward this temple and is known to be Sannidhana where in the prayer of people for education and marriage is generated without fail.

His Holiness Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji regards this as a great spiritual opportunity for the devout public to render service for the renovation of this ancient temple dating back to ages. The committee here by appeals to all the devout member of the society to come forwards and join hands in all possible ways for the grand success of this holiest and historic act.
